Todd Wilkes, Creative Director

Todd Wilkes

Todd Wilkes has been a music industry creative force for over a quarter century and he is the Creative Director for Flat Earth Music.

If there is such a thing as a born song plugger/publisher, Todd Wilkes is about as close as you can get. His 26 years of experience began at age17, when the Nashville native went to work for Grammy Award winning Jim Malloy, at his Publishing Company (Deb-Dave/Briarpatch Music). Becoming Creative Manager, he worked with legendary songwriters/artists Eddie Rabbit (who had 26 #1 singles and wrote “Kentucky Rain” for Elvis), Even Stevens, David Malloy, and Paul Overstreet. Wilkes followed the catalog when it was sold to MTM Music Group, and later to BMG Music Publishing. As Creative Vice President at BMG, he worked with hit writers such as John Hiatt, Radney Foster, Marcus Hummon, and Angelo, and was instrumental in the writing careers of Foster & Lloyd, Steven Dale Jones and Hugh Prestwood.

Wilkes was responsible for Trisha Yearwood’s recording of Prestwood’s The Song Remembers When which won Song of The Year, and went on to become one of her biggest hits, winning an Emmy Award for the Disney Special The Song Remembers When, as well as the ACM Song of The Year I Love The Way You Love Me (John Michael Montgomery) and the classic Ghost In This House.  During his tenure at BMG Nashville he led the company to become BMI’s Publisher of the Year.
